They named their company Numi after a middle-eastern dried lime they drank as children. Numi is dedicated to innovation and quality, paired with a commitment to community and the planet. Numi travels and sources directly from fair labor gardens because people should be paid a fair wage. The dedicated Numi tea’m sources directly from fair labor gardens ensuring equitable wages and opportunities that allow workers and their families to thrive. Numi is a leading importer brand of Fair Trade Teas in North America. The Fair Trade programs allow workers vote to decide how Fair Trade premiums are invested in their community.

Numi is active in providing clean, safe drinking water to its farming communities around the world – with promising results:

In 2016, 22 wells were built, serving 3.500 people in Numi‘s organic Fair Trade turmeric farming community in Madagascar. All of the new wells were beautifully adorned and protected, showing how much the villagers value and respect them. Women and girls no longer have to fetch water from the river, and the lives of people have been completely transformed!

In 2017, new wells were installed in the largest organic, Fair Trade tea estate in Tonganagaon, Assam (India), serving over 6,500 people in 12 villages with water infrastructure and education.

In 2018 and beyond: Numi is reaching another 10,000 people in farming communities in Egypt and South Africa.

Through thoughtful choices Numi is committed to reducing its impact on the planet. Organic tea cultivation protects the health of farmers, the planet and you. Numi uses only natural biodegradable filter-paper tea bags; not GMO corn or plastic “silky” bags. The recyclable tea boxes are made of 90% post-consumer waste, printed with soy-based inks and without unneeded shrink-wrap. Numi actively partakes in programs that lower and offset its carbon emissions.
