Shatavari, also known as Indian asparagus (botanical name: Asparagus racemosus), is probably one of the most famous ayurvedic plants in Europe. In ancient ayurvedic texts Shatavari is praised when it comes to women and their femininity. This is also carried by the name of "Shatavari", which translates as "the one who has 100 husbands". from the viewpoint of Ayurveda, Indian asparagus is said to promote the spiritual power of love - which is esteemed high especially by women, but also by men.
The versatile Shatavari root with its sweet and bitter taste is also considered a Pitta-Rasayana in Ayurveda. Accordingly, it is also part of various other Rasayanas from Maharishi Ayurveda® as well as of many other ayurvedic food supplements.
