Live Unheard - Anhad CD

Item No: KH-773
ANHAD is a Sikh Rock band that formed in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 2009. Their music instrumentation ranges from Electric Guitars, Bass Guitars and Acoustic Guitars all the way to Vaaja, Organ, Tabla, Cajon, Drums, Tambourine and, of course, great singing. Anhad’s music is uniquely outstanding, something you have hardly ever heard before. On their album Live - Unheard they fuse traditional Sikh style music and mantras which are also part of the teachings of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan with modern, contemporary music and sounds and give it a really new dimension that “rocks & grooves”!
Anhad’s music has been influenced by known artists such as Tool, Snatam Kaur, Oasis, Guru Ganesha Singh, Metallica, Sat Jot Singh, U2, Mirabai Ceiba, Kula Shaker, Guru Singh, Jeff Buckley, Gurunam Singh, Nine Inch Nails, SiriOm Singh, Coldplay, Nusrat and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Pearl Jam, Sri Dasmesh Jatha, Junoon, Singh Kaur, The Diplomats of Drum, Acapella Jatha, and Porcupine Tree. Yet, although you can hear a little bit of all of these artists in Anhad’s music, they create a new music style which is free, wide open and great fun to listen to, always carrying a deep vibration of the Love of God.
The first track, Mangala Charan, is deeply meditative and relaxing, opening the mind and soul for what is to come next on Live Unheard: rhythmic, invigorating music that rocks, melodious, joyful and sometimes leading into ballad-like songs such as Sagal Dwar. All together, Anhad have created a debut album that enriches the wide field of today’s spiritual music with a new dimension.
ANHAD say about their music:
”We had always hoped of one day listening to a band that merged western music with eastern influences. Growing up, we were exposed to some of the best Kirtan of our day. At the same time, in the world around us, bands like Oasis, Coldplay, and U2 were gaining prominence. And when we weren't listening to the hymns of our Gurus, we were singing out loud to songs like Wonderwall, Where The Streets Have No Name, and In My Place, and occasionally, just occasionally, wished that one day the 2 worlds would meet.
We believe that God is a part of every breath, every moment of our every day. Not just the good ones, and not just for the ones we spend in His name. And that means He's there when we give someone a hug, when we go for rock concerts, when we dance to Bhangra, when we go on a date, and when we watch YouTube videos. He is always present. Now we love the fact that we have been able to make Him a part of our favourite music in the world.”
