The Turmeric root (botanical name: Curcuma longa) belongs to the ginger family. It is known by a variety of names, including turmeric because of its intense yellow colour. Turmeric has been cultivated as a useful plant in India for about ten thousand years. There it has been used in Ayurvedic teachings for many centuries and is highly valued.
In traditional Ayurveda, turmeric is used especially to balance the kapha dosha. Just like the black pepper additionally used in the vegan turmeric capsules, curcuma is considered a warming spice.

Preparation / Usage:
