In ancient Indian scriptures, cumin is described in detail in connection with medicinal herbs.
The cumin seeds are used especially in Ayurvedic cooking. It is better to grind it from the whole seeds yourself, because this is how it unfolds its full aroma. Cumin is also an important ingredient in Ayurvedic spice combinations, such as the Vata-Churna.

Preparation / Usage:
Whole seeds, ideal for fresh grinding directly before preparing food. Also very good in combination with other (whole) spices such as coriander, mustard seeds, cardamom etc., which are freshly ground together as a mixture before cooking, e.g. in a mortar or spice grinder.
To cook basmati rice, add some whole cumin seeds and cook together with the rice - this creates a particularly aromatic basmati rice.
