Cardamom is considered one of the oldest and most treasurable spices worldwide, similar to Saffron or Vanilla. Cardamom as a spice originally comes from southern India, and is cultivated today in many other countries such as Sri Lanka, Guatemala, Tansania and Brasil.
The mostly green cardamom-pods with their brown to dark black coloured cardamom seeds have a pleasant, refreshing and mild taste which fits perfectly to other spices such as all the curry spices. Cardamom is also often used for preparing liqor, as well as being a wonderful ingredient in cakes, pastries and milky foods such as deserts.
