In the tradition of Ayurveda, Ama is the collective name for all substances that put a strain on the human physiology and thus impede the free flow of the inner mechanisms for draining the body. The literal translation of Ama is: 'undigested'.
Ayurveda distinguishes the three types of Ama: undigested food, toxins absorbed from outside, and mental Ama. We produce most of the Ama ourselves, and that is when our Agni (digestive power, the fire of digestion) is not strong enough. As a consequence, nutrients are not sufficiently metabolized. Over time, this 'waste material' can accumulate in the body and slow down the free transport of matter and energy.
Ama-Cleanse Rasayana by Maharishi Ayurveda contains a mixture of highly beneficial bitter and sharp herbs. They are recommended for 1 month at every change of the season.

* Note about the ayurvedic term Ama:
In the ayurvedic scriptures, the term „Ama“ is being used regularly. The word-to-word translation of Ama is: undigested. According to the ayurvedic scriptures, Ama occurs when our intake of food is not digested properly according to bad eating habits, or to a weak Agni (= digestive fire). According to ayurvedic knowledge, Ama is described as a kind of slag material in the body, which can slow down any kind of metabolic processes. An equivalent, corresponding term in western science to the term “Ama”, which we have transposed as “metabolic waste products”, to date does not exist.

Dose for adults:
The first 2 weeks 1 tablet twice daily, later 2 tablets 2 times daily about 1/2 hour before meals with warm water. The lowest/highest recommended daily dose (2/4 tablets) contains: iron 13/26 mg (93/186 % of the reference intake).
